A historical daytrip over the Commewijne river where abandoned plantations rest with names like: “Rust en Werk” and  “Johanna en Margareta”. Centuries ago beautiful and flourishing plantations with planters houses, are now peaceful villages.

Passing the old Fort Nw Amsterdam our guide will tell you about how it was used to defend the Colony Suriname, and was later used as a prison, but is now used as an open-air museum. Departure is from Leonsberg and we’ll also stand a very good chance at spotting playful dolphins in the river.
