Devil’s egg Expedition
On top of an 980m tall granite rock lies the devil’s egg. This is an enormous boulder made of age-old granite which is harder than the granite found in Patagonia. We start after our landing on the Kayser airstrip, which lies in the Central Suriname Nature Reserve, by boarding the motorized canoe’s on the Zuid river and the Lucie river.
We will machete our way through the Surinamese Amazone rain forest on trails where almost no man has gone before. Dragging the canoe’s over rapids, hiking through the forest and gathering the food by hunting and fishing is almost a surreal experience.
After reaching the point where no canoe’s can pass, the expedition continues by foot for the next 7 days, taking you through an exclusive environment of co-existence by flora and fauna, like never experienced before. This expedition is an absolute recommendation to people in excellent physical condition whom are adventurous and willing to see the most remote and untouched-by-human-hands parts of our beautiful Suriname.
