Enthusiastic fishermen will experience an absolute thrill for Kabalebo is the place to be when it comes to catching big fish. If however you enjoy the water without a fishing pole you are able to explore the area in a canoe. From the surface of the river or creeks the view and sheer beauty of the area is sure to inspire you.

Day-to-day program (tour consisting of 3 days):
1st day
Right after welcoming the guests breakfast is served. A hike is next on schedule from the foot of the Misty Mountain to Zandkreek, where you will have the opportunity to lounge on sandbank with a breathtaking view. On the way back to base you will be able to enjoy our flora and fauna.

After the delicious dinner you are free to fill your own time in the hammocks or in the rooms.

2nd day
After breakfast we’ll take you on a cruise on the river or a climb to the Misty Mountain. This is a real example of the name fitting the object, for this 500m ( above sea level ) mountain is a real empowering view from the Nature Resort Kabalebo.
The climb consumes roughly 4 ½ hrs in total. In case u decide to take it up a notch and climb to level 2, an extra of 2 hrs is needed. Back at the lodge we’ll enjoy lunch and the rest of the day is spent relaxing on the pier where you browse through the impressions left from the day. Dinner is the last item on the program.

3rd day
After breakfast its your choice once again to decide whether you want to canoe on the river or hike around the vicinity of the resort. Departure towards Paramaribo will be in the afternoon.

At night we’ll stroll on the beach in search of the turtles in order to witness their wonderous mission of coming ashore, digging the nest, laying the eggs in trance, and the closing of the nest to hide it against predators. Scientifically proven, this is a mission that has been going on for centuries by the fore-fathers of the now-laying turtles.

Mysteriously enough, these turtles reside in the waters of Brazil living off the sea-weed and kelp abundantly present, but they seem to find their way back every season to the beaches they were born on. Even more mysterious is how the baby-turtles find their way to the ocean, without guidance.

In Suriname 4 turtle species lay their eggs:

1. The Krape or soupturtle, Green Turtle in English, the most commonly seen one

2. The Warana ,Olive Ridley in English

3. The Karet, Hawksbill in English,

4. The Aitkanti, Leatherback Turtle in English

At Nickerie we board our comfortable boat which will take us to an Amer-Indian village Orealla ( British Guyana ), where we stroll through the village and do a quick sanitary stop. After our departure from Orealla, we head to Cowfalls, where we do lunch and we prepare to spend the night.

After awakening to beautiful sounds indigenous to the forest and the sounds made from the rapidly flowing waters, we enjoy our breakfast and had to Timehri, where we stretch our legs a little and we prepare for the last stage of the boattrip, our trip to the wonderous Wonotobo falls.

After check-in feel free to wander about, explore the area, sunbathe, or to catch one of the fish abundantly present in the rapids. The catch may include but is not limited to Red Tail Cat fish, Peacock Bass, Giant Threadfin and several other large species. At night we sit around the campfire while we listen to the fisherman’s tales from the guests or the ghost stories told by the guides.

The adventure continues after breakfast by going to the Blue Crane Falls, where the sheer volume of falling waters will amaze you. From there you are brought to a well-known fish area, and where you are guaranteed to catch a lot. It is up to you if u decide to eat or release your catch.

On the next day we go to the French men falls where the opportunity rises to swim, relax in the rapids, and recover from all nature’s beauty. Than we head into the forest to meet and greet their inhabitants and admire some hieroglyphs left behind by the Amer-Indians which populated the area many centuries ago. During your stay you will surely encounter many birds, monkeys, deer, swine and much more.

De volgende dag word de dag waarop wij varen naar de Frenchmen Falls waar U de gelegenheid geboden wordt om lekker te zwemmen, relaxen of in de stroomversnelling te liggen en bij te komen van al het onderweg tegengekomen natuurschoon. Hierna brengen wij de bossen en hun bewoners een bezoekje en kunnen wij onderweg enkele rotstekeningen en slijpgroeven aanschouwen waarmee de oorspronkelijke trio indianen vele duizenden jaren terug hun boodschappen communiceerden en die na al die millenia nog intact zijn. Tijdens het verblijf en de boswandelingen zult u ongetwijfeld veel papegaaien, ara’s , verschillende apensoorten en andere soorten dieren tegenkomen daar dit gebied veelal ongerepte natuur beslaat.

The Brownsberg is located at a distance of 130km south of Paramaribo, between the Saramacca- and the Suriname- river, and the reserve is sized at 12000 acres. On a height of 500m ( above sea-level ) you will find the Mazaroni peak where you will have a splendid view on part of the van Blommenstein ( Brokopondo ) lake and the top of the treeline of the Amazon rainforest abundantly present on the slope of the mountain.

The Mazaroni plateau provides you with the necessary information as it displays a map of the area, and detailed well-placed arrows lead you on hiking trails through the idyllic forest where cool refreshing waterfalls lie named the Irene- and the Leo falls, which in turn are fed by the abundant creeks in the area.

Upon return from the hike a tasteful lunch awaits you, and we can nourish our bodies to the fullest. Some relaxation or exploration time follows here after, for in the evening we undertake another hike to search for frogs, snakes and other nocturnal creatures. After a hearty breakfast we go to the Berg en Dal adventure center, where most of the day is spent on activities such as hiking, canoeing, and canopying. In the early evening hours we depart Berg en Dal, drive over the Afobakka road to Paramaribo and you will surely have enjoyed an adventurous trip.

Stone Island is a peninsula in the van Blommenstein lake, which offers you a breathtaking view of the lake with its typical tree trunks emerging from the water, but which are still perfectly conserved. After arrival we cruise over the lake in a dugout canoe, where you will surely enjoy the splendid view and the rich flora and fauna. En route you will have the opportunity to catch some Peacock Bass or the famous Piranha’s.
