Raleigh Falls / Voltzberg
This fairly intense tour starts with collecting the guests whereafter the bus takes us to the kwinti village Witagron ( apr. 3-4 hour busride) where a short bathroom break can take place and you will have a chance to stroll through the village with the guide who will explain about the culture of this maroon tribe. After an 2 – 3 hour boatride we will arrive at Fungu island we will check in to the accommodation, and a walk through the Island can commence escorted by the local guide and our guide.
On the 1st day you will be relaxed by rushing rapids, and the guide will tell you all about the local flora and fauna when exploring the area or by fishing in the stream.
The 2nd day starts with an early breakfast and soon after the group departs towards the Voltz-mountain, which will be reached by a 3 hour hike through the Surinamese Amazon rain forest. On the way we will surely explain about the flora and fauna we could encounter. The ascend to the top of this granite rock can take about 45 minutes, but the spectacular view of the wide horizon that follows is very much worth it. Various participants have described this as having an outlook over the world, but we leave it open to you to share your opinion. After descend we will refresh ourselves in the stream of the Anjoemara falls in complete harmony with the surrounding nature.
The next day we will visit the Moeder and the Manari falls and a hearty meal will surely strengthen body and mind. After this some free-relaxation time follows by laying in the hammock, fishing, swimming or exploring the area accompanied by our guide. At night, the Raleigh-boys (local band) will entertain you and will offer you the chance to participate in their own energetic music style (voluntary contribution required).
On the 4th day we depart after by airplane en we can rest assured that you have immensely enjoyed a mix of culture, nature and adventure. At Zorg en Hoop airfield we’ll say goodbye to our guest. Transportation from the airfield Zorg & Hoop is not included.
